Highlands Latin School is proud to announce that eleven of our high school students have been accepted into the Commonwealth’s most competitive academic and leadership programs: the Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program (GSP), the Governor’s School for the Arts (GSA), and the Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs (GSE).
Six HLS students—Kaitlyn Beville, Max Ingram, Max McFarland, Levi Nau, Ashray Neotia, and Matias Trocan—were selected for the GSP, which accepts only 1,000 students statewide from a pool of over 2,000 applicants each year.
Governor’s Scholars are chosen through a rigorous application process that evaluates academic excellence, extracurricular and volunteer achievements, community leadership, and beyond. Jefferson County, home to the largest number of applicants in the state, typically sees up to 150 students accepted into the program each year. It is an extraordinary accomplishment for Highlands Latin—a school of fewer than 800 students—to have six Governor’s Scholars.
In addition to our GSP honorees, Jirah DiCapua was accepted into the GSA, and four students—Josiah DiCapua, Connor Gilcreast, Kellan Knapper, and Ronda Whyatt—were selected for the GSE.
These eleven selections reflect the exceptional caliber of Highlands Latin’s student body and underscore our school’s continued commitment to academic excellence, leadership formation, and the cultivation of future scholars and innovators.
