Highlands Latin School is proud to announce that five members of the Class of 2027 have been honored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for their exceptional performance on the PSAT/NMSQT.
Four seniors earned distinction as National Merit Semifinalists, placing them among the top 1% of college-bound students in the country: Sophia Arruda, Cole Chambers, Carson Cruse, and Jirah DiCapua. Ellie Krumhansl was named a National Merit Commended Student, a recognition reserved for those scoring among the top 3% nationally. Congratulations to all five on this outstanding achievement!
Out of a graduating class of just 26 seniors, nearly one in five earned national recognition this year. This kind of result rarely comes from a school this size, and it is no accident. It reflects a classical education built on mastery of the fundamentals, the cultivation of real thinking, and a community of families, teachers, and students who expect excellence and work for it.
Tradition runs deep at Highlands Latin School. Over the past decade, HLS has regularly led Louisville in the percentage of seniors honored by the National Merit Scholarship Program, at a rate well above national averages. This year’s honorees carry that legacy forward with distinction.
Congratulations once again to our 2027 National Merit Semifinalists and Commended Student!
