The house system is widely used in British schools and schools that model themselves after the British system in countries with past British colonial ties, such as Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, and Singapore. The system began in boarding schools, where students actually ate, drank, and slept in individual houses during school terms. The house system still operates this way in prestigious British boarding schools, such as Harrow, Eton, and Winchester College.

Here at Highlands Latin, we are very fortunate to have a talented chef, Cyndi Schmitt who manages our hot lunch program. All of the food served is made from scratch, is healthy and delicious, and can be purchased throughout the year!
OUR METHOD
CLASSICAL
The intensive study of Latin in the grammar school years develops the minds of students as no other subject can. Students who have learned how to learn with our Latin curriculum become better students in all other subjects.
CHRISTIAN
Highlands Latin teaches and upholds traditional Christian morality, and the Holy Scriptures as the divinely inspired word of God. Highlands Latin warmly welcomes families of other faiths, but we ask that you respect our distinctive Christian identity.
TRADITIONAL
In our traditional classrooms, a knowledgeable, enthusiastic teacher carefully leads students into an understanding of each subject. Classrooms are quiet, orderly, and disciplined with incremental, age-appropriate, and skill developing work.
WHO WE ARE
Highlands Latin is a private, K-12, classical, Christian school in Louisville, KY. Our goal is to provide our students with a classical education of the highest quality and to create a private school which is a model of excellence in both academics and Christian character.
