Community, Beauty, and Opportunity
Aubrey Colburn’s journey at Highlands Latin School has given her wonderful experiences with teachers, friends, the arts, and much more. After helping to start a coffee shop on campus, Aubrey was inspired to major in business management with a concentration in entrepreneurship at Western Kentucky University.
“Highlands Latin School really takes you from being a follower to becoming a leader,” said Aubrey. “I’m excited to take my classical education and hopefully bring something a little extra to Western’s campus.”The Joy in Tradition
Luke Nicholas’ journey at Highlands Latin School has provided fast friends, a love of theatre, confidence, and the stability of a tradition that holds to the faith of Christianity. He plans to attend the University of Kentucky and major in biomedical engineering.
“Both my culture and my school have shown me the value of tradition,” said Luke. “HLS has helped prepare me to face the struggles that I will encounter by teaching me to persevere and to rely on the love and support of all those around me.”
Running Forward with Determination
Marissa Mudd’s journey at Highlands Latin School has been an amazing story of personal growth and leadership in the classroom, house system, and with cross country. She plans to attend Western Kentucky University to major in business administration and political science, with the hope of later attending law school.
“Running teaches some of the core values I want at the center of my life: Perseverance. Determination. Trusting the Lord,” said Marissa. “If you can take that mindset with you, you are going to be set up for the rest of your life when you face challenges.”
Answering the Call to Serve
From exciting weekends playing softball to leadership within the house system, Samantha Kang’s time at Highlands Latin School has taught her how to lead and build the confidence of everyone around her. She plans on serving our country by attending the United States Naval Academy and majoring in ocean engineering.
“HLS has really prepared us to spread our wings and fly away,” said Samantha. “Giving back to a country that has given so much opportunity to (my family) is something I’m excited to do, despite all the challenges that lie ahead of me.”
