Congratulations to four Highlands Latin School seniors recognized as National Merit Scholars!
Trevor Kimbell, Michael LePrell, and Jane Singleton were named Semifinalists, and Allie Pierre was recognized as a Commended Student.
The National Merit Scholarship program is the most prestigious national academic award for high school seniors. Less than 1% of college-bound seniors are recognized as semifinalists and less than 3% are recognized as commended students.
Michael credited the complete education he has received at HLS with preparing him to perform well on the PSAT.
“HLS has provided a place for me to excel in my education both inside and outside the classroom, giving me a strong foundation for attending college and my future career,” said Michael.
Allie said that HLS helped her to strive for excellence, and that her studies as a Highlander have equipped her well for the next stage of learning.
“Since I came to HLS in Kindergarten, the teachers and curriculum have pushed me to strive for excellence in everything I do,” said Allie. “This has equipped me with the tools to achieve high scores on these standardized tests, and I am very thankful for that as I take the next step in my education.”
Trevor said that the rich and rigorous coursework at HLS has always driven him to be the best he can be.
“The demanding academics at HLS have always pushed me to work hard and strive for excellence,” said Trevor.
We are beyond excited to see these Highlanders’ continued success!
